Huawei has launched a new smartphone dubbed Nova 8 SE, which is a successor of the Nova 7 SE revealed 6 months ago. Looking at the design, it reminds us latest iPhone 12 series with a boxy look. The thickness is only 7.5mm weighing 178 grams only. Overall, it borrows its design from iPhone 12, which isn’t a new thing as many Android smartphone manufacturers follow Apple’s footprints when it comes to launching new devices.
Huawei Nova 8 SE Specifications
The Nova 8 SE comes with a 6.53-inch 1080 x 2400 pixels Full HD+ OLED display with HDR10 support. However, there isn’t mention of refresh rate; hence, we can assume it refreshes at traditional 60Hz. The handset is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC, which is a 5G chip built on a 7nm node. The processor combines with Mali-G57 MC3 to handle the graphics-intensive tasks.
As for optics, there is a quad-camera setup at the rear. The primary one is a 64MP sensor coupled with 8MP ultra-wide followed by 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. There is a 16MP shooter to capture selfies. The fingerprint sensor is embedded under the display. The device gets multiple variants with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of built-in storage, which can’t be expended as it lacks micro SD card support.
Regarding the power juice, the device packs a 3800 mAh non-removable battery with massive 66W fast charging support. The company claims to charge the device 60% in just 15 minutes and a full charge in 35 minutes. All the essential connectivity features are available one would expect from a mid-range device. It will worth mentioning that there isn’t any 3.5mm jack; so, you have to rely on a type-C port. The smartphone runs on Android 10 on top of EMUI 10.1 out of the box.
Pricing and Availability
The Huawei Nova 8 SE is priced at CNY 2,599 for the standard variant, which goes up to CNY 2,699 for the higher-end variant. When it comes to availability, the device will be available for sale starting from November 11 in China. Overall, this is a mid-range smartphone launched for the domestic market.
