Yesterday, Xiaomi announced its first foldable smartphone named Mi Mix Fold. The device went for pre-sale on the same night offering three variants of 12+256GB, 12+512GB, and ceramic version 16+512GB, priced at 9999 yuan, 10999 yuan, and 12999 yuan, respectively.
Soon after, a Chinese digital blogger claimed that Xiaomi had sold 22,000 units via third-party platforms such as JD.COM. Wang Teng Thomas, Redmi Product director, quoted this post on Weibo saying, (translated) “It’s almost a chime! Mi Phones with a price of 10,000 Yuan (CNY) sell so quickly. Who dares to say that Xiaomi’s users are not high-end enough?”
He was actually bashing those who believe that people ignore the costly product from Xiaomi. This is somehow true in the other markets, especially in India, where Mi phones are not that popular. Once there was a time when the company was only known for affordable pricing. But as time passes, the company has innovated new things, and we have already seen some premium devices from the company. Overall, Mi Mix Fold is doing good. Currently, it is out of stock. Moreover, the device will start shipping from April 16 across the country.
Mi Mix Fold Specifications
Xiaomi Mix Fold comes with an 8.01-inch WQHD+ display at 1860 x 2480 pixels resolution. There is another 6.52-inch 840 x 2520 pixels cover display, which can be used while the device is folded. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with Adreno 660 GPU. Optics have a triple camera setup with a 108MP primary sensor, accompanied by 8MP telephoto and 13MP ultra-wide sensors. On the front, there is a 20MP shooter for selfies.
The optics also include Mi Surge C1 ISP. It is a separate unit, which works independently to process the images. Furthermore, it packs a 5020 mAh non-removable battery with 67W fast charging support, which according to the company, can charge the device within 37 minutes. The device runs on the latest Android 11 operation system with custom MIUI12 on the top. All the necessary connectivity options are available. It comes in multiple storage and RAM variants. Currently, it is only available in Chine.
