A couple of years back, Samsung launched the Galaxy A80 smartphone with a different sliding camera concept. It was a unique device, where the rear camera was rotatable with a motorized mechanism’s help. However, the device didn’t get a good response from its audience, and it ended up being commercially unsuccessful. Now, we are again ready to see its successor; however, there isn’t any confirmation regarding its design.
About a week ago, a device with model number SM-A826S surfaced on the popular benchmarking site Geekbench, which indicated it to be the Samsung Galaxy A82. At the same time, it revealed some of the key specifications, such as the Snapdragon 855 series chipset (most probably 855+ given the scores), 6GB RAM, and Android 11 operating system. The device scored 755 points in single-core and 2,630 points in multi-core results. These results are nearly the same scored by other devices with Snapdragon 855+ chipset under the hood.
Now, the same device has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, indicating the imminent launch. The listing doesn’t reveal much about the specification except Bluetooth 5.0 support, but it confirms its name to be Samsung Galaxy A82 5G. This means it could arrive with 5G support. It will be worth noting that Snapdragon 855+ processor comes with Qualcomm X50 external 5G modem. So, there is no issue regarding the 5G compatibility if it arrives with this chipset.
Speaking to its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy A80 was launched with Snapdragon 730 processor, Android 9 Pie OS, a Triple camera with a 48MP main sensor, a 3700 mAh battery, and a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel. As we have mentioned earlier, the device was having a unique motorized sliding camera, which benefited from taking high-resolution selfies with the main camera.
