The Japanese manufacturer Sony seems to launch a new smartphone. The company announced a new launch event for April 14, 2021. This launch event will be streamed on the company’s official Youtube channel at 16:30 JST or 9:30 CEST on the given date. As usual, the company didn’t reveal anything about the device name. But it is likely to be Sony’s much-awaited upcoming flagship Xperia 1 III 5G.

Based on the previous information from OneLeaks, the smartphone may arrive with a 6.5-inch CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display at a 21:9 screen to body ratio. Being a flagship smartphone, the latest Snapdragon 888 will be there combined with Adreno 660 GPU to handle the graphics-intensive tasks. The device seems to retail a 3.5mm jack with 5G support. It will have a fingerprint sensor embedded on the side-mounted volume buttons and dual front-firing speakers for an enhanced audio experience.

In a separate leak from the Chinese tipster, Sony Xperia 1 III probably to bring 4K HDR OLED panel at 120Hz refresh-rate with 1300 nits brightness. As for storage, it will have 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There will be another variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage exclusively available for China.

As far as optics are concerned, it is likely to have a 64MP primary sensor accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide sensor and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens with a 60x optical zoom. Apart from that, it will pack a 5000 mAh non-removable battery with 65W fast charging support. Further, the tipster also revealed its price to be 8,999 CNY, which roughly converted into 1,370 US Dollars.
